ABOUT ME

Tom Bowen is a content creator, award-winning writer, and definitely not writing this bio.
Storytelling has always been a passion, from writing and drawing comics at school to making films with friends on my first digital camera. This eventually led me to study film production at the University of Salford, where I learned my strengths lay in editing and scriptwriting, which I find the most rewarding parts of the production process, transforming months of brainstorming, compromises, and hard work into one coherent piece. In 2023, I graduated with First Class Honours and even won the Film Production Award for my dissertation on Steven Moffat’s first season of Doctor Who.
In recent years, I’ve combined my writing and editing skills by publishing in-deph video essays and mini-documentaries on YouTube. Covering a range of topics from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to the unrealised plans for Doctor Who’s 50th anniversary, these videos have accumulated over 500,000 views at the time of writing. My editing process involves sourcing appropriate visual assets, assembling a “spine”, and slowly building the final video from the assembled footage and audio. My methodical approach and eye for detail result in a well-researched, polished final product.
My editing skills also extend to photo manipulation and digital art. Gaining a following on social media for my poster designs, I’ve worked on various commissions for fellow filmmakers and YouTubers, including key art and thumbnail designs. Clients include FBC Productions, Mr TARDIS, and director Stefan Mohes (The Stanmore Incident).
Always striving for improvement, I look forward to any challenges the future has in store. Whether it's through writing, editing, or even writing this bio, I’m always going to tell stories.
